Thin-film deposition is governed by physics that is well understood — and almost never applied at the machine. Shops tune by folklore, handbook ranges, and burned runs, because working the mechanism out from first principles for one specific chamber has always been a specialist's job.
LabForge makes that specialist's output a product. A proprietary first-principles physics engine takes what the film must do and what hardware you run, and computes the complete process: power, pressures, gas flows, ramps, bias, temperature, expected film properties, failure-mode warnings, and QC acceptance criteria. Not a range from a table — a spec derived for your tool.
The measure of success is simple: the jobs a shop used to turn away become jobs it quotes.

You describe function + hardware
The film's job and a measurable target — hardness, sheet resistance, refractive index at wavelength, film stress, adhesion — plus your exact tool: chamber and base pressure, source and target material, power supply (DC, pulsed-DC, RF, or HiPIMS), process gases and MFC ranges, substrate, max temperature, and bias. The more precisely you spec the chamber, the tighter the recipe.
We compute your recipe
The engine derives every parameter from the mechanism up, for your described configuration — and flags where the process will want to drift.
You run it, we dial it in
You get an equipment-ready spec, then up to 3 revisions and 1 deep analysis that baseline your tool's measured state against the computed ideal — until the recipe behaves on your machine, not a theoretical one.
We tell you the limits of a route, not just the happy path
A recipe that only describes the best case is a trap with good formatting. Every LabForge recipe states where the process is fragile: the failure modes, the parameter cliffs, the assumptions that must hold, and — when a requested route is a poor one — that it is a poor one, with the better alternative.
You can see this standard in public: the published sample recipe includes its own limitations section and the revision log where the engine caught and corrected its own first draft. If we will say that about our own work in public, you can trust what we say about yours in private.
